My daughter was home last week and I was trying to get her to go to bed early to help her recover. I raised my voice and sternly said "Go to bed Abi, you won't get better without rest!" As she gave me a look she rolled over to go to sleep..I couldn't believe she had taken on my advice!... then as I was leaving her room, she called out " Don't think that because you shouted at me and I listened that it will work next time!"
...oh the power battles!
